Sometimes as intercessors, we become so desperate in finding the answers to our country’s woes that we become blinded by our very own desires to see our prayers through.
Then we turn to look for “prophets” and “apostles” that will reaffirm those desires and good intentions. And when they do come, readily we receive and believe them but neglecting our other duty to diligently study the Scriptures (1 Tim 2:15).
And with that desperation becoming more intense, we turn to the Scriptures daily but reinterpreting them to suit our very own whims and prejudices losing even our ability to discern (Phil 1:10) and test spirits (1 Jn. 4:1) in the process.
Let’s all be forewarned by 2 Tim. 4:3 that says, “For the time will come when men will not put up with SOUND DOCTRINE. Instead, to suit their own desires, THEY WILL GATHER AROUND them a great number of teachers to say WHAT THEIR ITCHING EARS WANT TO HEAR.”
Let’s search the Scriptures daily to find out if what they say is true (Acts 17:11) but NOT through our own lens of prejudice. Let the Scripture speak for itself by studying the real intent of the authors to the recipients, by studying their backgrounds and by knowing the occasions why they were written in the first place.
Don’t be that desparate. God is in control and God will bless the Philippines in His own time. “Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer” (Rom 12:11-12).
