What Would Elijah Do?
True to the Lord’s prophecy on the Mount of Olives (Mat. 24:11), the “Last Days” in which we are now, are infested with prophet wannabees.
These modern-day prophets always demand our obedience and respect. However in 1 Kings 18:16-26 we find Elijah challenging not only them but also the people along with their King Ahab. He even taunted these prophets of Baal in a showdown on Mount Carmel saying,
“Shout louder!… Surely he is a god! Perhaps he is in deep thought, or busy, or traveling. Maybe he is sleeping and must be awakened.”
Their failure to deliver and Elijah’s burnt sacrifice convinced the people to place their trust only in the God of Israel which resulted their slaughter. All 450 of the prophets of the false god of Jezebel.
